Allegations Against 1990’s Substitute Teacher

Allegations Against 1990’s Substitute Teacher
Posted on 11/04/2015
This week, Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) learned that an individual by the name of Leon Lussier, who worked as a substitute teacher in CPS during the mid 1990’s, was arrested in Kentucky and faces charges related to child pornography.

We have limited information about his arrest and allegations. Our records of Mr. Lussier’s employment with CPS indicate scattered K-8 assignments in Cambridge elementary schools between February 1994 and June 1996. Given the long passage of time, there is no reason to believe that current CPS students would have crossed paths with Mr. Lussier. However it is possible that alumni may have been in a classroom in which he substitute taught. Out of an abundance of caution we feel it is important for the wider CPS community to be aware of these troubling allegations.

All appropriate local agencies have been in communication, including Cambridge police, public schools, and human services. Mr. Lussier also taught in Somerville Public Schools.

Individuals who have any knowledge of criminal activity by Mr. Lussier are encouraged to contact the Cambridge Police Department at 617.349.3370, or may request further information from Public Information Officer Jeremy Warnick at 617.349.3237 or [email protected].

Questions regarding the Cambridge Public Schools may be directed to Family Communications Manager Rosalie Rippey at [email protected] or 617.349.6516.
