New Guidance from Governor Baker

New Guidance from Governor Baker
Posted on 06/25/2020
Dear CPS Community,

Earlier today, Governor Baker released initial guidance for the fall re-opening of schools. The full guidance document can be viewed here. The guidance emphasizes that students returning to school is the State’s primary objective. It is important to note that this is the State’s “Initial guidance,” and officials have indicated there will be further updates in July.

We are reviewing these initial guidelines and assessing their impact on the options available to CPS. We are working through these issues in unprecedented times, requiring a great deal of planning, as well as patience and understanding among all of us.

Our planning work will continue to be guided by community input. CPS issued a survey earlier this week, and we will conduct additional surveys to gather ideas and feedback from families, students, staff, and the community. In the coming days and weeks, we will share information about potential models for the reopening of CPS and reviewing these with the Superintendent COVID-19 Taskforce and the School Committee.

As a parent myself, I know that there are many questions and concerns about what the fall will look like, and we are working diligently to explore all options and considerations. We will continue to keep the CPS community updated throughout this process.

Thank you and please stay well.

Sincerely,

Kenneth N. Salim, Ed.D.
Superintendent
