Vision Statement

The Cambridge Public Schools believes a focus on student-centered, collaborative, and transformative adult professional learning will best create the conditions necessary to support all of our educators as they fulfill the CPS vision of rigorous, joyful and culturally responsive learning with personalized student support in our classrooms and schools.

Our ongoing, embedded opportunities for professional learning are anchored in highly effective practice, and grounded in data and student outcomes. We are committed to collegial support and responsibility, and believe balancing the needs and voices of our school communities will build capacity to develop effective student centered learning across our diverse populations.

Professional Learning Goals

  • Improve the social emotional and academic outcomes for all of our students by building the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of school-based and non-school based staff.

  • Provide learning opportunities for all CPS faculty and staff that are engaging, rigorous, culturally responsive, and lead to transformation in and impact on practice.

  • Support a cadre of instructional coaches, teacher leaders, mentors and facilitators to facilitate professional learning and instructional shifts.

  • Encourage and support the growth of teacher leadership through opportunities for collaborative work to design and lead professional learning courses in the district.

  • Connect CPS educators to outside professional learning options that support the growth of all students and the district plan.

  • Promote collaborative relationships among all CPS staff, colleges, universities, businesses, and community members that broker resources, expand services, and enrich the ability to provide rigorous, joyful and culturally responsive learning for our students.
