Visual Arts Program

The CPS Visual Arts program spans all grades and nurtures a diverse range of visual arts literacy while developing intuition, reasoning, and imagination into unique forms of expression and communication. Students can participate in a number of exhibitions and showcases each year offered at the school site, CPS Arts, or in collaboration with a community partner. See visual arts program chart >>

Elementary Visual Arts

Students in all CPS elementary schools receive at least one 45 minute class per week. Individual schools that have allocated extra funds towards visual arts have extra offerings for visual arts. (Morse: 4th grade drawing class)

Elementary Schools across the district exhibit in an art show at the Multi Cultural Art Center (2nd Avenue, Cambridge) every year. This year the exhibit will be in February. Many of the elementary schools have a “Visual Arts Show” in conjunction with other events at the school, and some principals have encouraged the teachers work at having their own art show. The Morse School, for example, has a well attended comprehensive art show at a neighborhood gallery.

CeramicsUpper School Visual Arts
