Midcontinent Research in Education and Learning (MCREL)
This is an extremely valuable and highly esteemed educational
organization. At McREL, a staff of highly respected educators and
researchers focuses on providing the highest quality, field-tested,
research-based products and services available in PreK-16 education
today. McREL is a nationally recognized, private, nonprofit organization
dedicated to improving education for all through applied research,
product development, and service. While many of their curriculum
products are for sale, their free bank of exemplary lesson plans are
available here.
The WebQuest Page
This
site is designed to serve as a resource to those who are using the
WebQuest model to teach with the web. By pointing to excellent examples
and collecting materials developed to communicate the idea, all of us
experimenting with WebQuests will be able to learn from each other. A
WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the
information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are
designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information
rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the

Jamie McKenzie is a world renowned educator and lecturer. This site
contains most of his articles and lectures have been an invaluable
sources of thoughtful-and practical-inspiration for educators teaching
the Net Generation. Subjects covered include: assessment, research,
information and literacy, questioning, multimedia production and
effectiveness, etc. His journal is required reading for all progressive
educators.
Learning through the Library Best Practices Archive
The
Learning through the Library Best Practices are brief snapshots of
successful teaching-learning projects, units of study, and strategies in
K-12 schools and school districts. These practices reflect the
Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning and demonstrate

MarcoPolo
provides the highest quality educational resources, free to K-12
teachers and students. Developed by world-renowned organizations who are
experts in their fields, these standards-based resources include
lessons plans, student materials, reviewed Web resources, student
interactives, and assessments. MarcoPolo content includes over 20,000
resources and 3693 lesson plans covering arts integration, economics,
geography, the humanities, mathematics, reading, language arts and
science.

by U.S. Department of Education, conduct full-text, subject, keyword,
or title searches, then select grade/education level and submit.

High School Hub
The
High School Hub is a noncommercial portal to excellent free online
academic resources for high school students. It features interactive
learning activities, an ongoing teen poetry contest, a reference
collection, college information, and subject guides for English,
mathematics, social studies, science, world languages, arts, health, and
technology. The High School Hub is and will remain free to the public
and free of advertisements.
The Creative Connections Project
The
Creative Connections Project links US/world K-12 classrooms with
partner classes from the Amazon Rain Forest, Africa, the Galapagos
Islands, the Arctic and China through E-mail, the Internet, art
exchanges, music exchanges and Study Partnerships. The project also
offers free teaching resources.
American Field Guide
This
site draws on the video libraries of local public television stations,
bringing users searchable access to more than 1,000 online video clips
comprising 150 hours of outdoors productions. The American Field Gudie
site is designed to help users find online video effectively and
quickly. It is also a resource for educators and students. Embedded
within the site are lesson plans weaving segments of video together
around specific topics of inquiry. Educators using national and state
standards for science learning contributed the lessons.
ALFY's TLC is a free, one-stop resource for teachers. Lesson plans,
thematic units, Internet activities, home page builder, links, and more
are provided.
Artful Minds
ArtFul Minds is a dynamic, interactive Web site that
provides educators with the resources needed to build a bridge to the
learning environments of the 21st century. Prospective and practicing
teachers will find theoretical information and practical applications
about arts education, brain research, and technology use and
integration. ArtFul Minds gives teachers the tools to increase cultural
literacy, develop global citizenry, and create classroom environments
that promote lifelong learning.

Curriculum and Instruction
This Curriculum and Instruction site has 15,000 links organized by grade level and topic.
The Daybook
A teacher-created searchable
database of online lesson plans. You can print out new lessons to use
right away. Any teacher can submit lessons by filling out the online
form. The Daybook currently features a selection of K-7 subjects, but
the database is constantly being updated to cover all K-12 subject
areas.
The World Wide Web Virtual Library
The
VL is the oldest catalog of the web, started by Tim Berners-Lee, the
creator of html and the web itself. Unlike commercial catalogs, it is
run by a loose confederation of volunteers, who compile pages of key
links for particular areas in which they are expert; even though it
isn't the biggest index of the web, the VL pages are widely recognised
as being amongst the highest-quality guides to particular sections of
the web.
