Superintendent Victoria L. Greer held the district’s first State of the Schools address on Monday, December 18. Superintendent Greer highlighted and uplifted the meaningful work being done in each of our schools to ensure all students are experiencing a high-quality education, the intentional initiatives centering equity, and the richness in skill and dedication of our tremendous staff. She also elevated opportunities for growth and challenges the district is facing.

“Since joining the district in 2022 as Superintendent, I have envisioned hosting an event such as this,” said Superintendent Greer. “The State of the Schools Address gives us a moment to pause, reflect, and uplift the meaningful work being done in each of our schools to ensure all students are experiencing a high-quality education, the intentional initiatives centering equity, the richness in skill and dedication of our tremendous staff, and the accomplishments of our students each and every day. It is also an opportunity to communicate the challenges we are facing and the path forward. In that spirit, I am here to tell you affirmatively that the state of our schools is rebounding. Over the past several years, we have faced unprecedented challenges. Our school buildings, staff, and educators have had their capacity stretched further than we ever thought possible. Our families have persevered, experiencing profound loss and others… barriers to care for their loved ones. Through it all though, we have remained resolute. Our deeply committed and passionate community has supported our schools, remaining highly engaged and interested in our work and progress. We have emerged stronger and I truly believe the best for this district and our community is yet to come.”

The inaugural State of the Schools address brought together several individuals invested in the district, such as state dignitaries, local lawmakers, students, district and school leaders, educators, community partners, and Cambridge’s institutions of higher education.
