Pumpkin Dash
Parents look on as Ms. S, in her fabulous pumpkin socks and hat, distributes pumpkins to Children's House students in preparation for this year's Pumpkin Dash extravaganza in the gym. Big thanks to Ms. S. for these great seasonal Phys. Ed events each month! We hope to see everyone who can make it for the annual Turkey Trot this month on the day before Thanksgiving (stay tuned for details).
Save-the-Date!
November 17 – Tobin Author Celebration
Did you know that the Tobin School is chock-full of talented writers? Students from Children’s House all the way up to Upper Elementary have been thinking deeply about how writers craft narrative stories. They have learned how to tell stories about their lives with pictures and words. They have studied how to zoom in on small moments to bring the reader into the story. They have learned about adding details to help the reader see, hear and feel the story.
Are you excited to read their writing? We are so excited to share it with you! Please mark your calendars for November 17th and come join us for a morning of celebrating our amazing authors!! Stay tuned for more details from your classroom teachers!
Day of the Dead
Pablo's parents Malusa and Onesimo taught Room 210 about Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday to celebrate those who have died with bright colors, food, flowers, and things that the dead person enjoyed. We celebrated Dr. Maria Montessori, who invented Montessori schools. As Italy's first female doctor, she liked caring for people, travel, eating, and BIG hats! So we decorated an altar with photographs, band-aids, pasta, and HATS! We also colored in drawings of sugar skulls and ate a special "Bread of the Dead."
Farewell
Officer Levesque, who has been the School Resource Officer here at the Tobin for the last eight years, will be taking another position with the Cambridge Police Dept. We wish her well and thank her for her willingness to serve and protect!
