We Want to Share Our Stories with You!
Did you know that the Tobin School is chock-full of talented writers? Students from Children's House all the way up to Upper Elementary have been thinking deeply about how writers craft narrative stories. They have learned how to tell stories about their lives with pictures and words. They have studied how to ZOOM in on small moments to bring the reader into the story. They have learned about adding details to help the reader see, hear and feel the story. This is going to be an amazing day!

Book Buddies
Book Buddies is a collaboration between Tobin Montessori and Vassal Lane Upper School. Once a week middle school students meet with their classroom "Buddies" to read stories and participate in classroom activities. Through these activities, "Book Buddies" hopes to build community across grades and create structured social interactions between the two schools.

Cider Pressing!
Recently, all of the Montessori classrooms took a turn going out to the CitySprouts Garden for our annual cider pressing day. First, we gathered the apples and chopped them up. We then put the apples in the grinder and we took turns turning the handle of the grinder. The apples came out of the grinder in very small pieces. We then put the pieces in the apple press and took turns again turning the handle of the press. Finally, we all got to enjoy the apple cider that came out of the spout! What a fun day!
Tobin Donation Bin
Did you know you can raise money for Tobin AND help the environment just by cleaning out your closets, drawers, etc.? The Tobin Donation Bin is an easy way to pass on items you no longer need while raising money for the school. It is located to the right of the school year round, and you can deposit items anytime. You can donate: BOOKS, CLOTHES, CDs, DVDs, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, LINENS. (Please do not insert: Furniture, Encyclopedias, Magazines, VHS Tapes, Pillows, Wet or Moldy Items, Home-Recorded Media).
How it works:
–You donate items into the container
–RecycleThat.com buys those items from the organization hosting the container (Tobin)
–Items are sorted and distributed for reuse
Last year the bin raised $790! All proceeds go into the Tobin Family Fund to help cover costs for field trips, extra clothing, holiday help, etc. PLUS your family will benefit from your improved clutter-free home environment. Everybody wins!
What is the Turkey Trot?
The Turkey Trot is an annual event sponsored by our very own Ms. Spencer! The students from different grade levels gather around behind the school where the students participate races. Lower and Upper Elementary students compete for Turkeys, pies and apple cider! The Children's House students enjoy munchkins and cider in the cafeteria after their event! You are invited to stop by and cheer the kids on if you like. I will send home a schedule next week. Donations of turkeys (frozen... we have room in our freezers) pies and cider are needed. Please make all donations by Monday, November 23rd. Thanks for helping to make the Turkey Trot a HUGE success!
