Neutral Buoyancy - Flinker!
Students of the Baldwin STEM club learned all about neutral buoyancy at their last meeting. The challenge was to build a 'thingy' that likes to hang out in the middle of the water using styrofoam peanuts, string, washers or pennies. Hear more >>

Perfectly Symmetrical
Third grade students have been learning about the proportions of the human face. This involved deep observation of their features with mirrors. They then printed a photo of their face and drew the other side of their face. They know that the face is actually not symmetrical.

Fifth grade work inspired by stained glass rosette windows.

Fourth grade continues their work with bilateral symmetry.

We need you to help establish 'the Baldwin Way.'
We are creating 'the Baldwin Way' for our school and we want all voices to be heard! The families of Baldwin are a very important factor to continuing the success of our school and we need you to help with the process. Our teachers and our families will work throughout the year on our common practices to more clearly refine our school culture. Please attend the next Baldwin School site council meeting and help establish 'the Baldwin Way'. We will start with homework, communication and arrival/dismissal.

Looking for Baldwin Siblings
Do you have a child ready to start kindergarten? Cambridge Public Schools holds the Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Lottery in January. Sibling families can register at school during the month of December.
If you have a child born between September 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012, they are ready for Junior Kindergarten.
If your child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2016, then they are ready for Kindergarten.

Thank you to the MANY families who helped with the Election Day food sale. Thank you to Nina Wootan who organized the day. With her organization, many families got involved. Thank you to the support of our dedicated Friends of Baldwin board. We had an incredible team of parents who volunteered to work throughout the day and a great group of talented families who contributed wonderful baked items and delicious soups and chilis. It was a tremendously rewarding team effort. BALDWIN SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
Be part of a group of parents and faculty that work in conjunction with the Baldwin faculty teams - Instructional Leadership Team and the Culture and Community team - to work toward the school's improvement goals, outlined in the school improvement plan. This year, the focus of the group will be to discuss and come to a consensus on 'the Baldwin Way' around topics like homework, drop-off, and communication. Meetings are in the school library. All are welcome (and children). Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 17 at 6PM in the Baldwin Library.
ALL-SCHOOL MEETINGS
Each month, the Baldwin School has an all-school meeting. This is an opportunity for the entire school to get together as a community. It is run like a Responsive Classroom morning meeting starting with a greeting followed by classroom shares. Classrooms take turns sharing their work. All are welcome to attend.
The next all-school meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 19 at 2:05PM.
