Geometry & Glow Sticks in Room 211!
Students are learning about the relationship of geometric figures including triangles. Here is an example of some of their work. Students in room 211 used 400 glow sticks to create these figures. They continue to figure out how many triangles were created. What other shapes can you see?

International Night
Volunteers Still Needed!

Hello Parents!

International Night is a big event every year at Tobin. This year it falls on Thurs., Dec. 10th. Next week! The giant pot luck is amazing, but the Activity Tables are really where it's at! If you are interested in running an Activity Table, which might include showing traditional dress, teaching a craft from the country, photos, teaching a song, sharing a treat, or any other cultural gem you can share, please let me or Mary Frawley know! You don't have to be from the country or even have heritage there; your interest and love of sharing is enough! Currently represented countries include Egypt, England, Eritrea, Ethiopia, India, Ireland, Israel, Korea, Mexico, and the USA.

Thanks,
Carrie Voiland (Edwin and Louise's mom)

International Night | December 10 | 5-7PM
5PM Drop off the Pot Luck meal in the lobby. A volunteer will take the dish to the cafeteria. While waiting for dinner to be served, please enjoy the activities in the hallway.
5-5:30PM Enjoy the heritage posters in front of the classrooms as well as the activities tables in the hallway.
5:30-6:15PM Sample delicacies from around the world in the cafeteria. Please wear typical clothing from your country.
6:30PM Bring your child to the 3rd floor for the Parade Of Nations. Look for volunteers who will direct you and your child. You may stay with your child or take a seat in the auditorium. DON’T FORGET TO BRING THE FLAG OF YOUR COUNTRY FOR THE PARADE!

What is a Potluck? Each family brings a dish with enough food for 10-12 people to enjoy. It can be a traditional dish from your country or a dish you just like to make. Please consider using disposable containers. Label your dishes and serving spoons with your name. Empty dishes can be claimed in the cafeteria at 7PM. Paper products and beverages will be provided. Please fill out a food card, and bring it along with your dish.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Work in an area with proper lighting that avoids glare and reflections. Limit eye strain by following the “20/20/20” rule: take a break every 20 minutes, stop for 20 seconds, and look at least 20 feet away from the homework or computer monitor.

PARENT ED CORNER
Create an Ordered Environment
To make things accessible to your young child: Arrange toys and games on low open shelves with a particular place for each. Sort smaller items into trays or baskets by category, such as puzzles, art supplies, and blocks.
