thank you

Thank You!
Our entire school wants to thank all the police and school officials for the amazing job they've recently done to make sure our school was peaceful and safe.

Family Outreach
This Thursday evening is an opportunity to engage with fellow Tobin parents at our monthly Family Outreach Council (FOC) community meeting. Come share your ideas, your concerns, and your experiences in an open forum! Bring any questions you have, and let Gail ([email protected]) know of topics you might like to discuss.

Look Who's Cookin'!
Our kitchen has a new Head Chef, and it is none other than Tobin Dad, Paul Oberhauser! Originally from Minnesota, Paul has been a chef his entire career, including several years cooking on tall ships sailing around the Caribbean and several Boston area restaurants. For the past seven years he has been part-time fishmonger/consultant at New Deal Fish Market in Cambridge and full-time Dad to his two Tobin students, Gavin and ClaraJane, who are thrilled to have their Daddy at school. Chef Paul is honored to be working in the district of schools ranked #1 in Best Food in America (http://bit.ly/1HZ24lc). Welcome, Chef Paul!

Adjective Hunt
Room 206 went on an "Adjective Hunt" to Fresh Pond. The children were asked to describe what they saw and felt while they were there. These words will be used to write a "Persuasive" letter or review about why one should visit Fresh Pond.

Popcorn!
While we were out at the City Sprouts garden we picked some corn from the garden and we took the kernels off. We dried them out and Greg from the garden used an air popper to pop the corn. It was delicious!

TIP OF THE WEEK

If you have a student who is reluctant to read out loud, here is a fun reading activity to try! Read aloud from a book at your child’s level. Hold the book so your reader can also read along silently. Every so often leave out a word and have your child read that word. Then turn the tables and have them read to you and leave out occasional words. They will love to see if you are paying attention and can read the word they omit!

PLAY AT FRESH POND!
I am inviting whomever among Tobin families is free on Wednesday after school, and would like spend some time playing in the woods, to join me for an outing this Wednesday. I will bring hot chocolate to enjoy once we arrive at our destination. Please email me if you think you will be coming, so I can estimate how much to bring; also email me if you would prefer to drive, scooter, or bike so that I can tell you where exactly to go.
