Estimadas familias,

Parece que el invierno finalmente ha llegado. Hemos tenido algo de nieve y algunas temperaturas bajas. Aprovecho la oportunidad para compartir con ustedes las medidas para el recreo al aire libre.  Consideramos que el recreo es una parte importante del día escolar de cada estudiante y nos esforzamos por tener recreo afuera lo más posible.  En días de frío extremo seguimos la guía  “Child Care Weather Watch Guide” para ayudarnos a decidir si está muy frío para jugar afuera.  Sin embargo, si la temperatura está bajo los 13°F usualmente hacemos arreglos para tener recreo adentro.  

Les recomendamos que envíen a sus hijos/hijas a la escuela con ropa para el frío: un abrigo, guantes, gorro y botas, para que así puedan disfrutar de actividades durante el invierno. Si usted tiene alguna dificultad financiera para proporcionarle a su hijo/hija cualquiera de esta vestimenta, por favor contacte a Ms. Susan Greenberg, nuestra enfermera escolar, o a Ms. Lillian Rater, nuestra persona de Enlaces de familias, para recibir asistencia.

Me gustaría resaltar esta semana un nuevo evento que se llevará a cabo este año en Amigos. El sábado, 6 de febrero, Amigos de Amigos auspiciará nuestra primera Noche Multicultural. Durante este evento, familias de más de 14 países estarán compartiendo sus tradiciones personales y culturales. Será un gran evento lleno de comida, música, amor y amistad. También será una gran oportunidad de conocer la gran diversidad de nuestra comunidad en Amigos.

Dear Families,

It seems like winter is finally here. We’ve had a dusting of snow and some cold temperatures. With this in mind I want to share with your our outside recess policy. We consider recess to be an important part of a child’s school day and we strive to have outdoor recess whenever possible. On days that are extremely cold we use the Child Care Weather Watch Guide to help us decide if it is too cold to go out and play. However, typically if it is below 13 degrees we will make arrangements for indoor recess.

We recommend sending your child to school with cold weather clothing; a winter coat, mittens, hat and boots, so that he or she may partake in the winter fun. If you are experiencing financial difficulty with providing any of these items, please contact Ms. Susan Greenberg, our school nurse, or Ms. Lillian Rater, our Family Liaison, for assistance.

I want to take some time this week to highlight a new event that will be happening at Amigos this year. On Saturday, February 6 the Friends of Amigos will be hosting our first Multicultural Night. During this event, families from more than 14 different countries will be sharing their personal and cultural traditions. It will be a great event full of food, music, love and friendship. It will also be a great way to get to know the rich diversity of our Amigos Community.
