Family Math Morning
Come Learn Math the Montessori Way!
Thursday, January 28 | 8-9:30AM

You are invited to a Tobin Montessori Math Morning. Students will demonstrate how they learn math concepts through the use of Montessori math materials and self discovery. Please drop off your child at his/her classroom and go to the lobby for a quick explanation of what you can expect to see in your child's classroom. Teachers and students will also use that time between 7:40 and 8AM to "take their places" and prepare for your arrival. Please feel free to visit any of the classrooms in Children's House, Lower Elementary or Upper Elementary during the 8-9AM time period. All parents are invited to the lobby at 9AM for coffee and a discussion on what you have seen in the classroom(s). See schedule & sign-up form >>

Create an Ordered Environment
To make things accessible to your young child: Pour drinks into small, manageable pitchers placed on a low refrigerator shelf. Keep cups within your child's reach – along with a sponge to clean up spills.

Sew Cozy
Miss Megan's mom, Elaine, came by room 282 on Tuesday morning carrying her sewing machine and lots of fabric! We were each able to pick out what color hat or neck warmer we wanted, and Elaine stitched them up in no time! Thank you, Miss Elaine, for taking the time to make us feel very special and cozy on such a cold day!

clay planet

Our Planet
Room 283 Kindergartners used modeling clay to create the layered models of our planet Earth. The students proudly presented their work to their classmates.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
There is no shame in not knowing. The shame lies in not finding out.
–Assyrian proverb

TIP OF THE WEEK

Agendas can help children learn to manage their time. Children are under pressure to track their own time and manage multiple activities, such as homework, projects, tests, extra curricular activities etc. The efficient use of an agenda prevents children from feeling overwhelmed by their school work and gives them a sense of control which makes them feel good about themselves. It helps children to prioritize, plan and pace their tasks and is a communication tool between home and school.
