Reminder!
Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund – 3 Mile City Walk/Run
Sunday, April 3
Once a year, people come together to participate in a city walk/run in Andrea Harvey's memory. It is just one opportunity among many to join together in a positive action in the struggle to protect women from violence.
In 2005, the Harvey family and the communities of Cambridge and Boston had a precious daughter stolen through unspeakable violence. Twenty-eight year old Andrea was a true Renaissance Woman – a beloved daughter, respected teacher, devoted explorer, accomplished musician & artist, gourmet cook, avid traveler, loving sister, niece & granddaughter, and kind friend. While Andrea's life was taken from her and us, we will never forget the joy and wonder she brought to so many others' lives.
The 2016 City Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, April 3. We will meet for the Run/Walk at the Russell Youth Center, 680 Huron Ave at 8:45–10AM. The race begins at 10:30AM.
A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund (AHMF), which gives scholarships to high school seniors entering college. This year we will provide two $1000 scholarships to seniors from Cambridge Rindge and Latin (where Andrea was a student) and two $1000 scholarships to seniors at East Boston High School (where Andrea was a math teacher). We will also give $2000 to a meritorious college bound Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School student in memory of Les Kimbrough, who devoted so much effort to promoting and supporting the AHMF. The AHMF also supports domestic violence prevention programs.

Help Wanted – City Sprouts
Believe it or not, it's officially Spring! That means, even with the construction and the snow, that planting is beginning in our school garden. Seeds need to be constantly wet in order to germinate. If you would be interested in helping out with a weekly or every other week watering shift starting in April, let us know. Watering the garden takes 30-45 minutes (using a hose) and can be a great way to connect with your child about the work their class is doing in the garden during the school day. Our Garden Coordinator, Erin, will give you a tutorial, check in, and make sure you have everything you need to make the job easy. The commitment can last through the end of the school year or continue into the summer, depending on your availability. Our seeds and our students would greatly appreciate the assistance!
