Poems & Pancakes
After learning the poem “Mix a Pancake” by Christina Rossetti, Eliza's mom came in and made crepes with us. They were delicious! We learned that they’re called crepes in Europe and pancakes in America. Miss Rebecca and Christina are both from London.

Classroom Reveal Day
On Wednesday afternoon, after our students went home, we invited all of our incoming 3-year-olds to come and meet with their new teachers and to see the classrooms they will be in in September. The children, as well as the staff, had an amazing time! We enjoyed popsicles while wearing our new Tobin tee-shirts and making new friends! See you all in September!

2016 Montessori for Social Justice Conference
Attention, Tobin families, we need your help for the upcoming Montessori for Social Justice conference we are hosting!!!

Below are a couple of ways you can support this:
–Would you like to help out by hosting a conference participant? You can host attendees in your home! Here is an exciting way for local families and teachers to support the conference by hosting attendees June 23, 24 and 25th. Here is a sign-up form for anyone who is interested in hosting: https://goo.gl/44D3AO.
–We will also need parent volunteers to help with preparations, such as photocopying, stuffing folders, set-up and clean-up of meals, and compiling a list of local eateries and things-to-do. If you are interested in helping, please email Erin Gutierrez at [email protected].

Taste Test
Thank you Tobin and Vassal Lane Upper Schools for a great taste test today with Haitian Poule en Sauce, a savory chicken dish served with rice. It was received with enthusiasm, and it will be placed on the regular lunch menu in the fall! Big thanks to the food service, cafeteria staff, and school nurse for the excellent teamwork! Our great volunteers worked hard dishing out the food and serving everyone, thanks to Rochelle, Corey, and Ashia. Thanks again to all as we introduce delicious traditional International Flavors!

BOOK SWAP
Please send your K-6 books that you have outgrown or no longer want to the library for our end of year Book Swap. All students will get to pick books from these donations to take home and keep. CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET
Did you know that Friends of Tobin earns money for every pound of textiles and books donated in the Recycle That bin located to the right of the school? All textiles, including clothing, single shoes, leather belts, purses, hats, linens, stuffed animals, and fabric scraps can go in the bin. You can even donate items that are torn, stained, broken or missing something. Just no dirty rags, nothing wet, nothing soiled, no carpets/rugs, and no mildewed items. Textiles in good condition are reused and damaged textiles are turned into wiping rags or processed back into fibers that are remanufactured into paper, yarn, insulation, carpet padding, sound proofing, etc. Learn more: smartasn.org/.
