282's Adventure to Black's Nook
Earlier this week, we headed out on quite the adventure. About a mile there and a mile back to an area of Fresh Pond called Black's Nook. Miss Sally kindly lead us to this beautiful area. On the way we saw... swans flying, snails in trees, a field of lupines (and we just read “Miss Rumphius” last week that taught us all about them), fish, frogs, and tadpoles. Please ask you child about the gosling!! On the walk back a dog chased a mama goose leaving behind one gosling. The gosling waddled along a distance with us until another walker offered to help it along. Wow, what a day out in nature!
Books Needed for Book Swap!
Please send in any books for PK-6th grade that you no longer want so that all students have a choice of book to take home this summer. Drop books off in the library or main office. The Book Swap begins on Monday, June 13. Thanks so much!

2016 Montessori for Social Justice Conference
Attention, Tobin families, we need your help for the upcoming Montessori for Social Justice conference we are hosting!!!
Below are a couple of ways you can support this:
–Would you like to help out by hosting a conference participant? You can host attendees in your home! Here is an exciting way for local families and teachers to support the conference by hosting attendees June 23, 24 and 25th. Here is a sign-up form for anyone who is interested in hosting: https://goo.gl/44D3AO.
–We will also need parent volunteers to help with preparations, such as photocopying, stuffing folders, set-up and clean-up of meals, and compiling a list of local eateries and things-to-do. If you are interested in helping, please email Erin Gutierrez at [email protected].

It's the Season of Spring Teas!
Room 286 had a lovely day on Tuesday! The children were so excited to have have their special invited guest join them for their annual event!
Walking Historical Tour
Students in room 279 participated in a Walking Historical Tour of Cambridge. We visited Winthrop Park, saw the original headquarters of General George Washington before he moved to a larger space, saw the Longfellow House, and visited Harvard Yards. Cambridge Common was our last stop. There we saw a commemorative stone where George Washington first took command of the American Army under the tree in 1775. We learned about lots of history right here in our own backyard!
