Welcome from the Family Liaison
We have gotten off to a great start here at K-Lo! I have really enjoyed getting to know all the students and families. If you have any questions about community resources please let me know. There is a wealth of services and opportunities in the city….I’d love to help you find what you need! I can be reached at [email protected] or 617.349.4865.

We also have a lot of great volunteer opportunities at the Kennedy-Longfellow. We need parents on our School Council, field trip supervisors, help in the library, packers for weekend backpacks, help with the K-Lo Market….there are many ways to get involved. We also love to have parents share their cultures or special interests with the kids. The first step for most volunteer opportunities is a criminal background check called a CORI form. Please ask your child’s teacher, or someone in the main office, for a form to get the volunteer ball rolling.

We are looking forward to a great year. Please let us know what we can do to help!

Back to School Night
We are hoping that your are all planning to join us for our annual Back To School Night. This is a chance to meet all the teachers, (including specialists, interventionists and coaches) and to get a sense of the academic expectations for the year. The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30PM on Thursday, Sept 22nd. See you then!

Looking for Room Parents
We would love your help getting information out to members of your child’s classroom!  We are looking for a Room Parent for each class. The Room Parent sends emails and makes calls to relay information to other families. He/she coordinates volunteers and makes a special effort of ensure that all families are informed and included. Interested? Please let either your child’s teacher or Nancy Wyse know. Help us bring people together!

Outreach Tips
If your child is going to be out sick please give us a call so we can mark them as excused (as you won’t get a phone call!). You can leave a message at 617.349.6841. Also, you can reach any Cambridge Public School employee via email with his/her first initial, last name @cpsd.us (example: Christine Gerber is [email protected]). This is a great way to reach out to teachers and staff.

BRINGING YOUR OWN HEALTHY SNACK
We were sad to learn that our fresh fruit grant was not funded this year. This was how we provided snack for our students daily. We hope that we will get this funding back in the future. In the meantime, we encourage you to send snacks in with your child. We also welcome donations for snacks for the class…..we want all our kids to be able to focus and learn!

PARKING REMINDER
Directly in front of our building is a bus zone. We ask that parents do not park there drop-off and pick-up so that the bus students can get on safely. There is plenty of on-street resident parking. Getting a Cambridge parking sticker is easy and affordable and you can park in all neighborhoods of Cambridge! Get more information online or call 617.349.4700.
