Summer Math Celebration
Last Friday, summer math was celebrated at Tobin Montessori. Calendars filled with ideas for reviewing math concepts and skills were shared last June with the intent being that just a few minutes each day spent “thinking and talking math” over the summer would help reinforce the math that has been learned.
Upper Elementary celebrated their summer math work by highlighting geometry and measurement activities out on the playground. A few of the many activities included: using the trundle wheel to measure the perimeter of the playground area; identifying types of angles on the playground equipment; and measuring the area of the baseball dugout.
Congratulations to all the students for completing their summer math work!

A Young Researcher
Kabir Ahmadi, a Kindergarten student from Room 283, is presenting his research on the famous mistake made by Eric Carle. In his beloved book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Eric Carle said that the caterpillar built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself and stayed inside before turning into a beautiful butterfly. Kabir explained that it was not a cocoon but a chrysalis and verified his research by using the Interactive Board.
Thank you for sharing with us, Kabir!
Lucky the Bird is Back from
Summer Vacation!
So Lucky, what did you do on your Summer vacation?
Well, my friend Fay took me to her residence in Waltham for the summer. During the car ride, I started to get a little nervous but then I remembered that I had been there before during April vacation! Then I started to get very excited! Fun things happen over at the Chaisson house. Kids and grandkids stopping by. Lots of cooking out on the grill. Every time my new friend Eddy came home from work, he would put me out of the back porch where I would enjoy the nice breeze and I could talk some of my fine feathered friends! Thank you Fay and Eddy for a summer I will never forget!
