Garden

CitySprout News
Volunteer with your child's class to help press apple cider in the school garden! During our Annual Cider Pressing in October and November, we introduce children and teachers to the school garden by setting up an apple press in the garden and teaching kids how to make cider. We would love parent volunteers to help set up, do a little crowd control, and clean up afterwards. As a volunteer, you'll have the chance to sign up for a free raffle to win a fun family activity. Come enjoy fresh cider and see how much the kids love being outside in the garden. If interested, contact Andrea Locke

Market

The King School is happy to announce the second year of the Open Market!

The first Market will be Friday, October 7! We are looking for volunteers!

If you are free Fridays at 1:30PM and would like to help set up, please contact King Family Liaison Marguerite Hicks-Gyewu.

Big Sisters

Our Site-Based Mentoring programs take place in schools and community centers in Boston, Cambridge, and Quincy. Big and Little Sisters meet once a week during the school day or at the Little Sister’s after-school program. Together they read books, learn new skills, work on projects of their mutual choosing, or engage in physical activities. Site-Based Mentoring creates a safe space for girls to have fun, learn, and grow alongside their Big Sisters during their busy school day.

Big Sister Boston is proud to be recognized as the national Agency of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for our substantial growth in the number of children served, quality and length of mentoring matches, and fiscal responsibility.

We believe that all children can benefit from the care and guidance of an adult mentor and, that when girls’ unique needs are addressed, they thrive with increased confidence, improved relationships, and the ability to achieve their individual goals. We are one of more than 300 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America affiliates in the country. Interested in your daughter having a Big Sister? Look out for permission slip that come home in your child’s back pack.
