What is Response to Intervention (RtI)?
RtI is a process, or a framework, for quickly assessing all students, three TIMES a year (Fall Winter and Spring). These screeners help us assess early reading skills (identifying letters and sounds, hearing sounds in words), oral reading fluency, comprehension, math, and social emotional learning. (At the K and JK level, students are also screened for fine and gross motor, as well as some additional language skills). We call this process of assessing all students, Universal Screening. Library Book Routine
You may see library books coming home in backpacks in the coming weeks. When your child brings a Haggerty library book home, please help to establish a routine which ensures that books will be “treated with love” and will return to school on time. Thank you! Read more >>

By: Tom Materazzo, Physical Education Instructor
Please try to send your child to school with appropriate clothing on Phys. Ed. days if possible. In particular it would be beneficial to the students to wear athletic shoes and athletic clothing such as gym pants, shorts, or a skirt with shorts. Please try to avoid jewelry especially hoop earrings.
We need your plastic bottles, caps, and lids. All colors, shaped and sizes!
We will be using them for a collaborative art project at the International Potluck on October 27. Please send in bottle caps to school with your child(ren) during the month of October. There will be a collection bin in the front lobby. Students will have a chance to help with sorting the different colors in the coming weeks. Questions? Contact Carroll Magill ([email protected]) Thanks for your help!!

Please help us plan this annual gathering of all families! In the past we have had families organize cultural displays of various countries and families bring food dishes to share that also represent a specific culture or country. Help us plan this year's celebration of our wonderful school community. Planning meeting is Tuesday, October 4th at 8AM.

Thanks to everyone who voted in our recent School Advisory Council Election! We had two parents step-up to accept nominations to our SAC - thanks for their willingness to participate. Volunteer to help student's press apple cider
in the school garden!
During our Annual Cider Pressing in October and November, we introduce children and teachers to the school garden by setting up an apple press in the garden and teaching kids how to make cider. We would love parent volunteers to help set up, do a little crowd control, and clean up afterwards. As a volunteer, you'll have the chance to sign up for a free raffle to win a fun family activity. Come enjoy fresh cider and see how much the kids love being outside in the garden.
If interested, contact Andrea Locke.
Apple Pressing at Haggerty will occur on:
Monday October 17th | 12Noon - 2PM
Wednesday October 19th | 8 - 11:30AM
Thursday October 20th | All-Day
