Message from Principal Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,
Now that we are settling into our school year, I won’t be sending a greeting every newsletter. The hope is that all the other features allow families to get important information and have a feel for what is happening at school. Please let me know of ways the newsletter could be more helpful. The goal is to make the newsletters work for families.
I do want to keep you informed of dates and plans around grades and conferences. Grades for the first marking period close on November 10. The current plan is that report cards will go live on Aspen on November 18. I will update you if plans change. We are also working on setting up an Aspen training for interested families. Thank you for your patience.

2016 RAUC Fall Festival
When was the last time you wrapped yourself in toilet paper to look like a mummy, or tossed a wet sponge at your teacher's face, or aimed a softball at a dunk tank target? For us...it was only a few days ago. On October 28th, our entire middle school braved the New England weather, and we celebrated our 2016 Fall Festival. Seven different community building activities were developed in order put smiles on all faces and emphasize the importance of teamwork and unity. Special thanks to 8th grade ELA teacher Nathan Saveriano for going above and beyond in organizing this community building event. View a slideshow from the day >>
Fall Dance Thank You's
Thanks to the School Spirit Elective students, elective advisor Shanika Boadu, 7th grade parent liaisons Vibha Pingle and Jonathan Donaldson, chaperones Teresa Sanchez, Shanika Boadu, Tekella Baccari, and Cassie McDonald, as well as the many wonderful 7th grade family volunteers. You helped create an evening that was fun and safe. Thanks to everyone for your willingness to go above and beyond to help make our fun dance a welcoming event for all.
Cambridge Public Health Flu Clinics:
Oct. 12–Nov. 9
Nasal spray vaccine will not be offered.
The Cambridge Public Health Department will be offering free flu shots (influenza vaccine) to people who live or work in Cambridge at sites throughout the city from Oct. 12 through Nov. 9.
The flu can be a serious illness, and the best way to protect yourself is to get a flu shot every year. Flu vaccine is considered safe and effective for adults and children over 6 months. While there is no charge to the public for flu shots, people with health insurance are encouraged to bring their cards with them to the clinics.
