Handel and Haydn

Musical Performance to Our 3rd, 4th,
and 5th Graders!

The Handel and Haydn Society’s outreach program presented Voices of the World to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders on December 12. This program focused on vocal music from the cultural traditions of several countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Traditional FOLK music, as well as COMPOSED music, was performed by the Handel and Haydn Society Vocal Quartet with active audience involvement.

Students had a very enthusiastic response! Fourth grade’s own Adolph wrote of the experience:

I liked the performance of the Handel and Haydn. I liked the part when everybody got to sing. My favorite song was A Ram Sam Sam. The most memorable guy was the bass because his voice was so deep.

Looking for a fun way to have your kids keep up their math skills over vacation? Check out Greg Tang’s website. Greg Tang has written many books and developed a series of games that are fun ways for children to practice what they know and think mathematically. I especially like “Ten Frame Mania,” “NumTango,” and “Kakooma.” Everything is available for free on his website! He even has digital versions of his books, which are also available in many libraries. Enjoy!
