Core Values: Aim High!
This week we launch the focus on our second core value, Aim high! All students will engage in activities in advisory to identify ways aiming high helps people academically and socially. Once the launch has happened, staff will work to keep students thinking about the core value with intentional questions, such as asking, What could you aim high for right now? How would aiming high help you in this situation? AND, What do you need to do to get to that goal? How can I help you? We invite you to bring this language into conversations at home as well.

We also strive to keep alive our first core value, Reflect. You can reinforce this core value with the prompts we are working to use regularly: This seems like an opportunity where reflecting might help you. What is the next right thing to do? We know it will take time to fully integrate these core values into our daily practice, but we believe in them and are committed to doing this important work as a community. Together, we R.A.U.C!

One Voice, One Sound Concert
Thursday, February 2nd
Community Dinner: 5:15 - 5:45PM in the cafeteria
Art Gallery: 5:15 - 5:45PM in the upstairs hallways
Concert: 6PM in the gym (performers to gym at 5:30PM)

Please mark your calendars! As you know, one of our new RAUC core values is to seek Unity. On Thursday, February 2, RAUC will celebrate our students as we come together in one voice, one sound, to make music.

Start the evening eating dinner as a community. The school will provide pasta and salad. To celebrate the many cultures that enrich our school, we invite families to bring a dish to share as well.

NOTE: In a further celebration of unity, we are also featuring displays of artwork from all grades in the upstairs hallways. The concert will be held in the gym, featuring students performing in the Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Urban Legends, and Jazz Band.

Please be sure to label ingredients if you do bring a dish to share.

DC Fundraiser a Success!
Thank you to all who came to Family of RAUC's Wine and Cheese Fundraiser. We are happy to report that we raised $5,032 that will go directly to scholarships for 8th grade Washington D.C. scholarships. Special thanks to Daniel Serfaty and Irene Mizrahi for hosting the fundraiser, to Sharon Bober and Tracy Jean-Chronberg for coordinating food and drink, to Shona Simkin for organizing invitations, and to the many Cambridge and Boston vendors who contributed silent auction items.

If you did not get a chance to attend and would like to contribute to the 2017 DC Scholarship fund, please visit frauc.org and click on the Support the Scholarship button.

School Council
Thursday, January 11 | 7:30-8:15AM
RAUC conference room

All families are invited to join the RAUC School Council in a visioning exercise that our superintendent, Dr. Salim, has asked all school councils to conduct. We will use a protocol to explore the following questions: What does it mean to be a successful graduate of Cambridge Public Schools? What would our students be prepared for?  What knowledge, skills and dispositions would they have gained? To accomplish this, what would CPS look like? Sound like? Feel like?

We hope to see you there!
