Fresh Pond = Fun!
Room 286 had a busy Friday. In the morning, we went to the playground at Fresh Pond. The children were very busy building. As we moved large logs and stumps around, we also thought about the scientific principle of force, push and pull. In the afternoon, the JK and K students continued the exploration of force and motion as they experimented with balls and ramps.

282 had a Busy Week!
Matt Lehrer (Oliver’s dad) came in and helped repair two wooden materials. He brought in his Gorilla Glue and various sized clamps. Matt presented how to repair the Number Rod stand and the Metal Inset tray. He showed us how to wipe extra glue and make the pieces are all aligned just right and how to use a clamp until the glue is dry.
We are participating in a study on play in the Montessori classroom that will be presented at the American Montessori Society conference in San Diego, CA this March. We are creating our own restaurant by transforming things into a stove, making food, etc… We walked to the Full Moon restaurant and were given a tour with Miss Sarah and Chef Julian. They taught us all about a restaurant. So far we have voted and our restaurant will be the Tobin Diner. Stay tuned….
We read 5 different versions of the Gingerbread Man (The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Boy, Pancake,…). We happily welcome back Miss Joanna Fischer whose daughter Meaghan was in 282’s first class in 2007. She came in and baked with Miss Shara (Wesley’s mom). They made the dough, rolled it out and made their own gingerbread. One friend said, “I used all my muscles! But I still have some left."
