Happy Belated Chinese New Year!
Emma's mom Na came in and taught us all about Chinese New Year. This year, instead of making a lion for the lion's dance, they brought one back from their trip to China. Children took turns being the lion or playing an instrument. Everyone received a red envelope for good luck. Matthew's mom Jenny made homemade mochi, and almost everyone tried it and loved it. Please feel free to make a plan and come in to share your culture, a book, etc.
The Mitten
The children in room 283 preformed a puppet show for several other classrooms as well as some staff members. While Miss Mayya narrated the book The Mitten, the children acted out the parts of the various animals in the book. The children worked very hard on the set as well as learning their lines for the show! Bravo room 283!
Africa Study
Room 284 is studying about the continent Africa. Anna Schachter, Caleb’s mom, came and read books about Africa to the children. Children were carried away by her singing style and they sang along with her. Aisha, Mariam Hamed's mom, read a book about pyramids. Children watched videos of pyramids and other facts about Africa. They made Egyptian mummies with her. Thanks, Anna and Aisha! Photo: Aisha reading to children.
Our Pledge
Did you know that every morning, children from Upper Elementary come to the office to say the Pledge of Allegiance and to sing the Tobin School Pledge?
Today, Ekrem and Lilli did an amazing job helping us to start our day!
