Find it Cambridge

Message from the Family Liaison
It’s hard to believe February is already half over! We just passed the 100th day of school. Although the snow is piled up high it’s almost time to start planning for summer. Keep your eyes out for camp and summer academic programming information starting in March. Cambridge has a great new resource for kids programming - it’s called FindIt Cambridge. There is a list of activities by date as well a search feature by age. Check it out for events during vacation week and for summer planning.

Introducing Family Fun Fest
This year we are starting a new event called Family Fun Fest. It is an evening of interactive activities you can do with your family. There will be crafts, games, movement, and fun snacks! It’s an evening of screen free entertainment with take aways so that you do the activities at home. We are really excited and we hope you will join us. Date will be coming soon!

Oceans

News from 2nd Grade
On Friday, January 13th the second grade classes in Rooms 203 and 204 invited families and staff members to celebrate their hard work on their Ocean Research Projects. Each student shared a non-fiction "All About" book that they wrote about an ocean animal. Guests learned a lot of new information about the animals through written facts as well as diagrams and glossaries. Students also shared group poster projects they did on each ocean, spoke with guests about all the ocean work they'd done in science and math, and showed off the "kelp forest" that was made in each room. It was exciting to share how much the second graders had grown as researchers and developed their skills in non-fiction reading and writing!

March Madness

Library Update
During library time, the fifth grade will be participating in MARCH BOOK MADNESS during the Month of March? How does it work

The program was started by two fifth grade teachers in Ohio. Here's what they say: "Sixteen titles were selected as "The New Classics" through work done at NerdCamp Michigan and online voting. The bracket was announced on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Voting will begin on Wednesday, March 1, 2017."

A lot of kids have read a few of these books already. To vote, you have to read two books that are facing off against each other. Stay Tuned! View the List >>
