Message from Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Famiies,
Our community is busy. Look for highlights from last week’s Ask a 6th Grader and Cafe Night, and reminders of upcoming field trips for 6th and 8th graders. Also please find in the newsletter future MCAS dates, as well one date change for 8th grade, along with information about progress reports, which go live Thursday.
For many in our community, this week also marks the Jewish celebration of Passover and the Christian celebration of Easter. Both holidays remind us of the power of a central story to keep the core values of a community alive and relevant. May all of us continue to find power in the stories that teach and sustain us.
We hope your students enjoy Spring Break. Reminder that there is no school this Friday! We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, April 24.
Peace,
Julie Craven, Head of School

Rising 6th Graders Welcomed!
Our 2nd annual Ask a 6th Grader event was a success! Last Wednesday, a diverse group of forty Baldwin and Peabody 5th graders gathered in the library to ask great questions of an eager panel of RAUC 6th graders. Guidance counselor Ms. Boadu served as moderator. Families met in the cafeteria to start with parent to parent questions fielded by our dedicated FRAUC members, followed by a Q&A with Ms. Craven. What a great way to support our RAUC core value of unity! Next year we aim to have an even higher number attend.

Cafe Night RAUC-ed!!
On Thursday evening, students showcased their talents in front of their peers, along with some parents and staff, for an amazing night of song, poetry, dance, and music. Our 7th grade emcess, Xavier and Julia, moved the night along with warm introductions for each performer. Core values were evident. Of course all the performers aimed high! And the unity was palpable--the diverse group of performers were all cheered on with equal enthusiasm. After observing the audience waving their flashlights/phones in unison during one song, a 6th grader enthusiastically noted, "Not to be corny, but everyone waving their flashlights, that is totally unity." HUGE shout out to Amy Gonzalez (7th ELA) and Josh DeWitte (6th-8th Chorus) for organizing, along with all those who helped set up and clean up. And, as always, we are deeply grateful to FRAUC for hosting a refreshment stand to help raise money for DC and other school events.
