Greetings from Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the community! The holiday became a national one in 1914 by an act of Congress, followed by a proclamation by President Wilson declaring it a day to honor mothers who had lost sons in war. It has evolved over the years, as holidays do. I hope you all celebrated it and were celebrated by it in ways that warmed your hearts.

This week we have two events that highlight the strengths of our RAUC community. On Wednesday, May 17, families are coming together to show their appreciation for the RAUC faculty with a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. This is a lovely tradition at RAUC that always brings a smile to the teachers’ faces.

Thursday, May 18 is our Spring Concert and Night of Excellence, where we celebrate the musical talents of RAUC students, followed by a chance to visit classrooms to see highlights of the learning that has happened in classrooms this year. We hope you will join us at 5:1PM for a community dinner to launch the evening. See details on the schedule in the newsletter.

In unity,

Julie Craven, Head of School

Math

Math is Just Hard These Days Workshop
May 18 | 11AM - 1PM
Many Out-of-School-Time Providers and parents have expressed difficulty in helping young people with math homework - things are taught differently now, and it's probably been a while since your most recent algebra class. This workshop was created with Cambridge Public Schools to help get folks on the same page about the math curriculum in Cambridge schools (grades 4-8). It is a FREE, two hour workshop located at Frisoli Youth Center, 61 Willow St.
Facilitated by Kathryn Williams, CPS district math coach.
