What is Your Ideal Cambridge ... A Kindergarten View

Baldwin Book Swap
This is a reminder from buddy classes K104 and Mrs. Miller's 5th grade:

Please send in your gently used children's books, ones you think other Baldwin students would like to read. The more books we collect, the more books each Baldwin student will get to bring home in June. Thank you to the students and families who have already contributed.

Greg Tang

Math Expert Greg Tang Visits
How lucky are the students in grades 1 & 2? On Monday, May 22, New York Times best-selling author and math guru Greg Tang came to the Baldwin to teach a math lesson to the students in grades 1 and 2. Mr. Tang writes children’s picture books as an author for Scholastic. He is also an author for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s elementary math textbook program. His work has been included in many other major textbook programs in the United States as well, including Math Expressions, Go Math, Everyday Math, and Investigations. Read more >>

International Luncheon

International Luncheon
The Grade 1 International Potluck Luncheon is more than a delicious feast, it is a way to celebrate the cultural diversity that is our community. Students and their families enjoyed cuisine from around the world and discovered each other’s cultures. Families not only shared a dish from their culture, they shared stories and facts about their heritage. Prior to the delicious feast, the students sang, “This Land is Your Land”, lyrics written by Woody Cuthrie. Thank you to Mr. O’Connor, Ms. Wong, and Ms. Moylan and the amazing families of grade one for a delicious and harmonious afternoon. Thank you to all of the parents who helped prepare the wonderful dishes, as well as helped set-up, serve, and clean-up.

Poetry Night

The Power of Poetry
The annual Baldwin Poetry Night was held on May 4th. More than 50 students of all ages read poetry and this year, original poetry was all the rage! Thank you to the teachers who helped motivate the children to write their own poetry and encourage students to read in front of a crowd. Thank you to Mrs. Rogers for inspiring many budding poets and organizing the poetry reading. Thank you to fourth grade students Vlaams and Addison for being gracious hosts. Thank you to members of the 2nd grade chorus and Mr. Epstein for their musical poems. Thank you to Audrey Day-Williams for organizing the food sale. Thank you to the many parents from grade 1 who helped bake and sell food. Read the poems >>

Thank You Baldwin Community
Thank you to the entire Baldwin Community for a great teacher appreciation luncheon and for celebrating our faculty during teacher appreciation week. A very special thank you to Leslie (Jonas and Willa), Cici (Mason and Uma), and Angela (Eliot and Andrew). Their weekly effort on Wednesday afternoons selling bread funds the staff appreciation luncheon. Thank you to Elisa (Lydia and Peter), for the gorgeous flower arrangements for the tables. Always, thank you to the Friends of Baldwin! Thank you to all the room parents who arranged special celebrations for their classroom teacher. Thank you to all our families for their support and appreciation for our dedicated educators. Teacher appreciation week was extra special because of you.

Backpack Program

Thank You Food Backpack Team!
Thank you to Katie Salter and Leslie Nielsen for all their support with this year’s weekend food backpack program. Every Friday of this school year, Katie picked food up at the high school to bring back to the Baldwin where Leslie meets her and they pack weekend food bags for students in our school. This is a tremendous program offered in our city for our students. Our school community is not only grateful for this amazing program, but for Katie and Leslie who are an integral part of the Baldwin School weekend food backpack team.
