family fun day

Family Fun Day
The sun was shining down on Family Fun Day sponsored by the Friends of Tobin. Lots of families came by and enjoyed a barbecue and a bouncy house. We owe a HUGE THANK YOU to Jenny the Juggler who came by and turned ordinary kids into adorable cats! Everyone who stopped by had a great time! Thank you Friends of Tobin for a fun-filled afternoon!

leslie

Congratulations!
We are proud to announce that after an intensive year long program (including most of last summer and many weekend workshops) Leslie Jordan has completed her Montessori Primary Teacher Training, and is now Montessori certified at the Children's House level! Congratulations on your accomplishment, Leslie!

Change for Change
The Tobin Green Team, made up of 5th grade Planet Protectors and led by the "e" inc. educator, is starting a project they're calling "Change for Change". Students will be collecting spare change donations during morning arrivals and also leaving out a jar for collection during the day. All proceeds will be going an environmental cause of the Green Team's choosing, a few ideas are preserving an acre of Rainforest and sending the money to help animals. Please help the kids with this great cause, any change is appreciated! 5th grade students will be collecting Change for Change throughout the upcoming week.

tea

Tea Time
Room 286 had their Annual Tea this week. The children did an amazing job getting ready for the special day. The children made up the menu, set the table with fancy tablecloths and fresh flowers. Parents and friends were their special guest. Cookies, fruit and of course "tea" were served!

Spring Concert!
Friday, June 9 | 8:15AM
Come celebrate the arrival of spring with our annual Spring Concert. The concert will feature kindergarten through fourth grade general music/chorus, fifth grade brass, wind and string students. Three and four year olds will be attending the dress rehearsal so there will be enough seating for all the parents. Please make sure your children wear concert white and black (white blouses or shirts, black pants or skirts). Please leave in plenty of time to park the car! There will be NO parking in front of the school.

red nose day

What is Red Nose Day?
By Max Krapata (Room 215)
Well, Red Nose Day is a day when people go to Walgreens and buy Red Noses. The money from the purchase of the Red Nose goes to various children's charities. It could be a charity that helps feed hungry kids, homeless kids or orphans. The Red Nose raises awareness about children’s causes. People will say, ¨Oh wow that is a good cause, I should donate!” That is what red nose day is.

A Note from the Health Office
Before our school year ends, I wanted to send a gentle reminder about immunizations for next fall. All students entering M4 and M5 in September must have their immunization series (Dtap #5, Polio #4, MMR#2 and Varicella #2) completed by the start of school on September 8. Children cannot start school without a completed series of immunizations.

If you have already sent a copy of your child’s most recent physical exam and immunization, you can bring a copy before the end of the school year. Some of you might have already made an appointment for your child over the school vacation. June Murray at the Department of Public Health will accept any forms that you want to send during the summer months. Her fax number is 617.665.3888 and email [email protected].

Feel free to drop by the health office or contact me if you have any questions. Have a wonderful summer vacation!

face painting

Face Painting
Jenny Oberhauser, ClaraJane's mother and the famous entertainer, came to Room 283 to do face painting. The students were excited to be introduced to the art of face painting and to be given many choices to choose from, for example, a cat, a dog, a princess, and even mustache and a beard. Face painting was a fun and joyful event, and we would like to thank Jenny for sharing her wonderful skills.
