KLO

It’s really hard to believe that it’s already June and this academic year is coming to a close. We have had so much fun with all the kids and getting to know all of you! Hopefully, you have some great things planned for the summer...if not, feel free to contact Nancy Wyse or your child’s classroom teacher to get some camp or activity ideas. Keep an eye out for information about special activities in the next few weeks (for example, Field Day is coming up on June 15th!). We are looking forward to a great last month at K-Lo!

Bus

K-Lo Movie Stars
The transportation department asked some of our AWESOME kids to be in a video about the new bus safety pilot program. Students on the Brown Cat bus are about to start testing a new safety feature (tap cards that are similar to Charlie Cards). This system records who gets on the bus and where each student exits. Our actors showed kids how it’s done and we had a great time making the little movie! You can watch them in action or get more information about the bus pilot by clicking here.

Market in the park

Summer Markets and Food Programs
In 2017 we’re trying something new...a SUMMER K-Lo Market! The last Wednesday of July we will have a K-Lo Market from 2:30 - 4:30PM in the Activity room. We are so excited to extend this great service into the summer. Please join us on July 26th! Read on >>

Potluck

2017 Academic Showcase and International Potluck
Thanks to all that braved the Harvard graduation traffic to come to our International Potluck! It was a fantastic night with food from around the world! Attendees were able sample foods from Italy, India, Laos, Korea, Haiti, Thailand, China, Czechoslovakia, Japan, Israel, Germany, Brazil, Bangladesh, and many other countries as well. The halls were a filled with unique samples of student work and art. It was great to see all the families. We had a great time and we hope that you all did too!
Friends of KLO

The Friends of Kennedy-Longfellow needs you!
As the 2017-2018 school year kicks in we will be looking for new members for Friends of Kennedy-Longfellow. This year we have been busy getting our non-profit status in place so that we can fundraise in the next year. We need your input about how to raise money and how the money should be used. This year we have been meeting the first Wednesday of each month at 6PM but that is subject to change. Keep an eye out for our first meeting in September...we need your voice!

Book Swap
We like to help kick-off the summer by offering our kids new books to read! Although this year we did not taking book donations from families we are still had a book swap! On June 5th each student had the opportunity to take home FREE books. Ask your child what he/she selected and maybe ask him/her to read it to you!!

Poetry Slam
Each year our librarian, Susan Moynihan, holds a great event called the Poetry Slam. Kids of all ages recite poems, both by famous authors and original works. The kids get very excited to show off their skills…..it is a fun event for everyone! Ask your child if she/he plans to take part and feel free to join us on June 9th at 8:30AM.
