Welcome Back to School
The year, Kennedy-Longfellow is off to a great start! We have loved seeing so many new faces and all our old friends. As the year goes on, keep your eyes out for these newsletters - they are a mix of information from Kennedy-Longfellow, Cambridge Public Schools, and the community. It’s one of the many great ways to stay connected. You should also look at the Cambridge Public Schools’ website, sign-up for the CPS Mobile App, or “Like” CPS Kennedy-Longfellow School on Facebook! You should also feel to contact me, the Family Liaison, with any questions. I can be reached at [email protected] or 617.349.4865. I am here to help in any way that I can.

Best,

Nancy Wyse, Family Liaison

Volunteer Opportunities
We have a lot of different ways that you can help out at the school! We need parents in the classroom, helping in the cafeteria, with School Council and Friends of K-Lo, and with our K-Lo Market and Weekend Backpacks. We need YOU! If you are interested you can sign-up here or you can contact Nancy Wyse or your child’s classroom teacher.

Kennedy-Longfellow School Council
The School Council is a group of parents, teachers, and community members that meet monthly with Principal Gerber. It is an advisory group that discusses policies, events, and community engagement. All the meetings are open to the public but are looking for several parents to become voting members. This is a very important role in shaping the school!! If you are interested in becoming a voting member please contact Nancy Wyse. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 11th from 5 - 6:30PM.

Garden

CitySprouts Garden News: Volunteer to Help Press Apple Cider in the School Garden!
During our Annual Cider Pressing Days we introduce children and teachers to the school garden by setting up an apple press in the garden and teaching kids how to make cider. We would love parent/family volunteers to help set up, do a little crowd control, and clean up afterwards. Come enjoy fresh cider and see how much the kids love being outside in the garden. We will be at Kennedy-Longfellow on Oct 11, Oct 12, and Oct 16.

If interested, please contact Andrea Locke for more information and to sign up. (Note: A 3-hour commitment is necessary.)

We are so excited that the “Friends of” wants to give back to the school! If you are interested in fundraising, or have ideas you’d like to share with the group, please join them for the first meeting of year….6PM on Tuesday, September 26th at the school.
