What's New?

Thank you to Special Start parent Robin Chen! Robin advocated for a changing table at the Baldwin. Last week the facilities department came and installed a changing table in the Baldwin visitor's bathroom on the first floor! Our school community owes you a debt of gratitude for your steadfast dedication to help make this a priority. Robin not only rallied the School Committee and the Chief Operating Officer's office for installation at the Baldwin School, but for all CPS buildings. The Cambridge Public School families thank you for your efforts to improve our schools!

All School Meeting

All-School Meeting
Thank you to fifth grade students Addison and Lucy for hosting the all-school meeting. Third grade students greeted the community in eight languages: French, Arabic, Bulgarian, Korean, Hebrew, Indian, Spanish, and Thai. Fourth graders Jade, Anna, Susan, Shajnin, and Lila did a remarkable job leading an all-school activity. Our school was introduced to a new song, written by Ms. Heidi. Ms. Power's 2nd grade class and Ms. Lilli helped the school learn the song prior to the meeting. Then Isaac G. led the entire school community in singing the new song. Thank you to Mr. O'Connor's class for making the beautiful slides to go along with the song. Ask your child to sing you the Baldwin School song! Read more >>

Ducks and Goose

Book Character Pumpkins

Our library is in the fall spirit! Ms. Kugel is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest of favorite book characters. This is a small sampling of the many incredibly creative pumpkins and gourds that fill the library. They will be on display through the Pajama Storytelling Night. Please be sure to stop by and see our students' amazing talent and imagination on display.

STEM

Science Sessions
STEM Fair spent Friday morning learning about evolution and looking at how animals adapt to thrive in their habitats. Parent Josh Finkelstein led the students on an exploration of the many amazing organisms in the world, from the water-walking basilisk lizard to the flying fish to the carnivorous Venus fly trap. They started by watching a few short video clips of some remarkable animals: flying fish, mimic octopus, wood frog, armadillo, axolotl, and basilisk lizard. Each of these animals evolved from simpler organisms and have adapted to their habitats (where they live). They learned how characteristics of a group of animals can change over time. Read on >>

BALDWIN SCHOOL
SITE COUNCIL

Be part of a group of parents and faculty that work in conjunction with the Baldwin faculty teams to work toward the school's improvement goals, outlined in the school improvement plan. Commitment of a Site Council Member: Attend a 60 minute meeting once a month (on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8AM) Your child is welcome to accompany you or can go to the cafeteria for breakfast or to the gymnasium for Let's Move. Please come to a meeting to see what it is all about. The next meeting date: Wednesday, November 8.

ALL SCHOOL MEETINGS
Each month, the Baldwin School has an all-school meeting. This is an opportunity for the entire school to get together as a community. It is run like a Responsive Classroom morning meeting starting with a greeting followed by classroom shares. Classrooms take turns sharing their work. All-school meets are for kids, by kids. The date of the next all-school meeting will be announced soon.

PRINCIPAL COFFEES
Principal Heidi will be hosting principal coffees this year on the 3rd Thursday morning of each month from 8:30 - 9:30AM in the Activity Room on the lower level. The topic of the next meeting: Positive Behaviors.

Please come to the next coffee on November 16.

LOST AND FOUND
The lost and found is located by the Sacramento Street door. If your child is missing clothing, that is the first place to look. The afterschool also has a lost and found and it is located by the elevator on the lower level. Please label your child's outerwear. That's the best way to get lost items back where they belong. Thank you!
