King Open Assembly: Responsibility
The King Open community celebrated Responsibility (from ROAR) on November 9th. Third graders showed videos they made of peers talking about what responsibility means.

Hour of Code is Coming!
Computer Science Education Week is December 4-10
This special week is part of an annual program dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. King Open students in grades K-5 will be taking part in an hour of code in facilitated by Jen Mason-Stott, Library Media Specialist and Sarah Rosenberg, Instructional Technology Specialist.

Halloween/Autumn Cards for Brock
After learning that a 7 year old boy, Brock Chadwick, was fighting a brain tumor, and had asked for Halloween cards to cheer him up, the 5th graders in Casey’s class sent an envelope full of colorful and creative cards.

KO Mindfulness Parent Morning
Friday, December 1 | 8:30 – 9:30AM
Location: Library 
For: Parents & Guardians

Gabriel Baldwin has been teaching an eight week mindfulness curriculum to Kindergarten classrooms and previously to 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grades. Please join us for a morning of mindfulness! Mindfulness teaches us research-backed skills to manage stress and anxiety so we can be more resilient, happy, and better able to focus.

We will cover:
•What mindfulness is, and try it out ourselves!
•What your children have been learning in the Mindful Schools Curriculum
•How mindfulness can help with parenting
•Plenty of time for questions and comments
