Wonder(ful)!
A HUGE THANK YOU to the Friends of Tobin who sponsored our outing to see the movie Wonder. It was a special day for our Upper El students who got the chance to walk over to the theater with their friends and see an amazing movie! The students read the book as a group and I would have to say, from the conversations that were heard walking back to school, that the students like the movie as much as the book! Again, thank you, Friends of Tobin!
Give Your Input!
Greetings Tobin Community! The Arts Team at Tobin would like to know more about our students and families. Please complete the Google survey ASAP (link is below). If you have any questions, feel free to contact a member of the Arts Team. Take the survey >>
Turkey Trot
Another amazing time at the Turkey Trot this year thanks to Miss S and her crew! A huge thank you to all the families who donated pies, cider and turkeys and cash for the event. The Turkey Trot would be as successful if it were not for your generosity. The heavy rains kept most of the festivities indoors, although our 4th and 5th graders insisted on running outside! The students, and the families watching them, had so much fun!
Giving
Students in the VLUS spent the morning last week sorting through all of the donations of clothing and books that were generously donated to Cradle to Crayons. There were so many donations the the organization had to make two trips! Great job VLUS.... You should be proud of yourselves!
Show & Tell
Natan Amlesom, a first year student in Room 283, presented a Tigrinya Alphabet chart for his show and tell.
Class Breakfast
Families in room 287 enjoyed a Thanksgiving class breakfast just before the holiday. We are thankful for all the wonderful families here at the Tobin Montessori School!
Author Celebration
The author celebration in Room 211 was a great success! The students worked very hard on their writing and were very proud to show the writings off to family and friends.
Shape Walk
Room 283 students used Metal Insets, traditional Montessori materials, to look for various shapes. The ability to identify shapes is an important skill for young mathematicians. During the Shape Walk children were making connections between what they learned in the classroom and the shapes in the world around them. Our world is full of shapes!

Please join us for a parent education session on the basics of the Montessori model. Parents will be given the opportunity to hear about what life is like inside the walls of a Montessori classroom. We will address the areas of the classroom, the materials students use, the philosophy, and how your child(ren) learn(s) “all that stuff”! We encourage our students to be active learners, and we hope you will join us on this journey, too. Even experienced families can learn something here, or share what they have learned with other families.
