Engaging STEM!
This year's STEM Fair was the best yet! There was so much excitement. Innovators, creators, and problem solvers took advantage of all the STEM Fair had to offer. Every station was filled with wonderful building and exploration. Rubber band cars, craft stick harmonicas, diffractors, catapults, roller coasters, LED flashlights, flinker, egg carton jenga, and cup towers...so much to experience. Read on >>

Movement Stations
This year, our Occupational Therapist Intern, Mirah Sand, under the direction of our Occupational Therapist, Christine Leonard, created Movement Stations in the school.

Why? Our staff uses movement breaks in the classroom. To develop a uniform culture surrounding movement breaks and physical activity, these movement stations can be used for all students. They provide an opportunity for students to self regulate. They are accessible for a wide age range. The station couples energizing movements with calming or regulating movements to get students ready to return to the classroom. Research shows that movement stations can increase the on task behavior of students. The same research stated teachers found an increase in attention after use of the movement station. Read more >>

Principal Corner
Dearest Baldwin Families,

I hope you find plenty of opportunities over the Winter Break to have fun and strengthen your bonds with family and friends. Enjoy!

As I begin to plan activities for my own kids for the coming week, I’m reminded that some of the best memories we make come from just spending some quality time together doing simple things that don’t require a lot of planning or resources.
Bundling up and going for an evening walk as a family, attending cultural events, cooking together, making gifts and cards, listening to stories from elderly friends or family, playing games in pajamas, singing and laughing together, even working together to clean or decorate your house or apartment--these are the kinds of simple but important things that will help rejuvenate students before their return.

Looking for Baldwin Siblings!

If you have a child born between September 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014, they are ready for Junior Kindergarten.
If your child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2018, they’re ready for kindergarten!

Please contact Susan at 617.349.4377 for a kindergarten registration packet and instructions on what is required to register at school.

Baldwin Can Drive!
Room 312 Helping Hands is hosting a food drive to benefit the Margaret Fuller House. Please drop any non-perishable food items off in boxes located in the lobby, in front of room 312 and outside Susan's office. Collection will take place through December 21.

If you have any questions, please email Nina Jeffrey.

Math Cups

Math Projects
Students in Mrs. McNulty's third grade class presented their math projects at a recent family breakfast. What a unique way to display place value! Samer shows how he represented 7,611 using cups to represent thousands, foam squares to represent hundreds, pipe cleaners to represent ten and pompoms to represent ones.
