Adventure to Africa
Kathy and Ed, Hannon Lind's grandparents, came to our Room 283 to present a slide show about their trip to Africa. Kathy and Ed shared beautiful artifacts that we are keeping on the Peace Table for every student to enjoy. Thank you, Kathy and Ed!

Chess Wizards
Victor and Felix, who are involved in the Community Schools Chess Wizards Program here at the school won 1st place in the Chess Winter Classic! The trophy is proudly displayed in the trophy case. Congratulations, Victor and Felix!


Mind Matters
Thank you to everyone who wanted to be part of the Mind Matters Sessions. We had an overwhelming response! Because we are teaming up with our friends at the Haggerty, we will not be able to accommodate everyone who signed up. Be assured we will be running this series again next year and you will be first on the list! I will be contacting all the families who were selected by Monday with further details.

Please join us on Wednesday, January 24th @ 8AM in the Art Room! Are you looking for support in bringing the Montessori philosophy into your home? Please join us after drop-off at 8:00 on January 24th for the next session in the Parent Education series "Montessori at Home." You'll hear about the basics of the Montessori philosophy and bring home practical tips on how you can incorporate simple changes to your daily routine for better success with your child(ren).

Sewing & Story
Last week, Miss Megan's mother Elaine, came to room 282. What a special day it was! She showed the children how a sewing machine worked. The children learned all about batik fabric that Miss Megan had brought back from a trip to Africa. All the children had a chance to pick out the fabric they wanted to use to make a pillow. When they were all done with the sewing project, everyone sat down and listened to Miss Elaine read "Snowman At Night." Miss Elaine then went down to the cafeteria and joined us for lunch! Thank you, Miss Elaine! We had a great day!
