Facebook Donates

Facebook Donates Chromebooks to KO

A ceremony was held in the King Open library on Thursday, October 27, 2014. At this ceremony, Facebook’s Ryan Mack, leader of the Cambridge engineering office, officially donated 25 Chromebooks to the King Open School. Mayor David Maher, Dr. Jeff Young, Speaker of the Mass. House of Representatives Robert DeLeo, State Representative Marjorie Decker, Senator Sal N. DiDomenico, Counselor Timothy J. Toomey, and School Committee Member Fred Fantini were present for this event. The CPS ICTS team was instrumental in getting this technology ready for student use. These Chromebooks will be used to promote STEM education in our school.

Clothing

King Open Clothing/Food Drive
It is that time of the year when I want to ask for your help and support so that together we can make a small difference in the lives of many friends in need within our own King Open community. In the past few years we were able to pass along your generous donations of food, clothing and gift cards to grocery stores to many KO families. I would love to continue this great tradition. Update on Building

King Open/CSUS Building Update
As you know, William Rawn Associates in partnership with Arrowstreet Architects have been selected to lead the King
Open/CSUS construction project. William Rawn is best known in Cambridge as the lead architect for the Main Library on Cambridge Street. A schedule detailing public input opportunities for families, neighbors, students, and faculty will be announced soon. The first community meeting for this project will convene in January. I will share the specific date of this meeting when it is scheduled.
