Ms. Kugel Hosts MCBA Luncheon
The 4th and 5th grade MCBA Club attended a joint MCBA (Massachusetts Children's Book Awards) luncheon. They talked about the books, ate lunch, and made a case for their favorites. Two students were recognized for reading the most for each grade so far. A fourth grader has read eight books and a fifth grader has read 24. Students also collaborated with their grade level to create their own orange juice dog like the dog in When Life Gives you OJ by Erica S. Perl.

Thank you to the parents who helped make the December Book Fair such a success: Meg S., Melinda G., Andrew J., Kjersti R., Celine T., Laura S., Peter N., Danae J., Fekadesilassie K., Sara F.. Also thank you to our building substitute Mr. T!

Thank you to Lynne, Michelle, Trish, Nordell, Suzette, David, Shanira, Raheem, Amaneale, and Aurora for a great movie night! Thank you for all who attended. Listening to the kids sing to all the songs in the movie was magical! You helped raise $600 for the Summer Camp Scholarship fund. Next Movie Night is Friday, February 27. Hope to see you there.

All-School Meetings
Each month, the Baldwin School has an all-school meeting. This is an opportunity for the entire school to get together as a community. It is run like a Responsive Classroom morning meeting starting with a greeting followed by classroom shares. Classrooms take turns sharing their work. All are welcome to attend. Our next All-School Meeting is Friday, February 13 at 2:15PM.

Family Opera
North Cambridge Family Opera is looking for adults and kids 5 and older to sing “A Little Light Music: Songs of Electromagnetic Radiation” as part of the Cambridge Science Festival in April. “A Little Light Music” is a collection of kid-friendly songs about light and other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum by several different composers. The topics are as diverse as Northern Lights, radio waves, different parts of the spectrum seen by different animals, and sunburn. Rehearsals will include a brief, accessible discussion of the science behind the songs.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6 - 7:30PM at the Peabody School, and start January 28. The performances are April 19, 25, and 26. This is a great activity for parents and kids to enjoy together. Come check it out at either of the first two rehearsals, January 28 or February 4!
