MLK Celebrations at the King School
As we are the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School we felt that we had an even greater responsibility to ensure that the students begin to have a solid understanding of who MLK was as a man and why he is so important to our country. It was also very important to us that our presentation be developmentally appropriate and relevant to the daily lives of our students.

Responsive Classroom
The topic at the January School Council meeting was Responsive Classroom. Responsive Classroom is often referred to as a social curriculum.  However, it is more of philosophy or an approach to teaching then it is a curriculum or a prescribed way of dealing with situations that may come up in the classroom. Hour of Code

Hour of Code
In celebration of Computer Science week, kindergarten through fifth grade students participated in the annual Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is an opportunity for all students to try at least one hour of computer science. This shows that anyone can learn the basics of programming. Read more >>

Food Drive

Giving Back: Donate to Room 117/121's Food Drive
We think you should donate food to our food drive. The food drive would allow us to provide food to people who need it in Cambridge. You should donate because some people do not have enough food to eat, having enough food helps people in many ways, and you will feel proud of yourself for donating the food. Learn more >>

Chinese New Year Celebration

All classrooms will perform and the morning will end with a traditional Lion Dance!

Teachers are looking for parent volunteers to help put up decorations for Chinese New Year. If you are interested in helping please come to the school on Thursday 2/12 from 8 - 9:30AM or 3 - 4:30PM.
