Message from Christen Sohn
Dear CSUS Parents and Caregivers,

While we continue to wait for springtime, the CSUS community continues to strive for excellence in athletics, academics, and activism.

As you may know, there was a National School Walkout planned for March 14th. Schools across the nation participated. The CSUS Student Council planned to join in this event, but was unable to do so because of the snow day. Scholars rescheduled their walkout for this past Friday, March 23 at 9AM. Student Council representatives visited grade level community meetings the day before to review their purpose and expectations. On Friday morning following first period attendance, scholars proceeded silently to the front of the building, where they observed 17 minutes of silence in honor of the 17 victims of the Parkland shooting. Afterward, scholars and teachers, supported by several members of the Cambridge Police, walked down Fulkerson Street to Cambridge Street, then down Seventh Street to return to CSUS. Scholars shared their message with signs and chants, and conducted themselves appropriately and respectfully. We are so proud of our scholars’ activism and organization.

CSUS Summer

Summer Workshops at CSUS
All 6th, 7th and 8th graders participated in a Summer Workshop assembly - a session devoted to hearing about all their options, hearing from each other, and thinking individually about their goals and plans for the summer. Workshops are facilitated by summer program providers in the community, so students hear from 8-10 different summer programs that are options for them that summer. Ask your child about what they heard! View the summer parent planning packet >>

At CSUS the point people to talk to about summer plans and applications are:
Dan Georgette, Health Teacher
Edson Soares, Student Support
Samantha Fontanez, MSN Liaison

The Middle School Network also provides resources to families and young people to help with summer plans. Please check out the following resources to see what was shared with students:
