What is a favorite project you worked on this year?
Each year we do a writing activity that deals with chocolates. I buy 5 different types of chocolates and the children taste the chocolates and then write about it. They love it and it’s fun to see their faces when I buy the different dark chocolates that they hate. The children also thoroughly enjoyed the wax museum put on by the UE students. They appreciated learning about the revolution and really became a hero from that time. John says “I love how we presented and that we got to dress up and visit the past.”

Tell us a few everyday examples of kindness shown by the students.
We began the year creating a kindness rocks garden where the children painted and added rocks for anyone to take. We also have a gratitude box where the kids are able to write different gratitudes for each other. At the end of the week we share them out loud and they really appreciate what their peers say about them.

How do you and the students start and end your day?
We always begin the day by reading the white board and using our planners to plan out our day. We end the day with a chaotic clean-up and then an elbow bump at the buses.

Curriculum Day
Last week we held the Annual Curriculum Day. Parents were eager to get to the classrooms to see the amazing work their children are doing and the students were just as eager to share their work! Thank you all who were able to join us on this special day.

Mrs. Turk turns 100!

100th Birthday!
On Monday, students from room 279 took a lovely walk in the snow to visit our friend Mrs. Turk at the Sancta Maria Nursing Facility. It was a very special day for Mrs. Turk. It was her 100th birthday! Room 279 made the day very special. They recited a poem, sang special songs and presented Mr. Turk with cake and balloons. It was an amazing day for our friend and room 279! HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY, MRS. TURK!
