King Open 20th Anniversary
Carnival Celebration
The 2015 King Open Carnival took place on Friday, March 6th. This annual event is our opportunity to celebrate our community and shake it down on the dance floor with all of our K-5 grade friends. As is our tradition, we had amazingly delicious food, fun activities, great prizes and excellent music. We also featured a Capoeira demonstration for our students and their families. Read more >>

King Open/CSUS Project Update
After the first public meeting regarding the KO/CSUS building
project (held in early January) the possibility of condensing the
project's timeline from 4 years to 3 was raised by our school
community. After hearing the request, the City Manager and his staff agreed to review the timeline to see whether or not the calendar could be consolidated. This week I received a letter from Deputy City Manager Lisa Peterson outlining the results of that review. As you can see the review found that the original 4-year timeline was necessary. I am sure that you join me in thanking the City Manager for the additional time taken to review the project. Now that we have confirmation of the timeline I am excited to be moving on to the next phase.
Over the spring we will be working to prepare for the move to the Longfellow Building (or Kennedy-Longfellow) over the summer and I will be working with staff, students, and families to finalize those plans. To date KO staff have had a second opportunity to meet with the architects about the new building design. As a reminder, the next community meeting regarding the project is scheduled for the evening of March 26 here in the school auditorium from 6 - 7:30PM.
