When it come time to write a new newsletter article I always struggle with which topic to focus on. There are so many great things going on throughout ICTS, and the district, it is difficult to select one topic to highlight. Reading

King Open Ola 1/2 Class Reads to Preschoolers

The King Open preschoolers were treated to special guest readers from Ms. Barros’ Ola 1-2 class. Librarian Judy Siemen came up with the idea for this reading adventure.
“I always try to connect kids with other children in the building where they can share their reading and what they know.” She added, “I wanted to do a connected read aloud with Dr. Seuss books and the preschool; this was a perfect opportunity to share these books with younger students
who may not know all these titles.” Read more >>

Authors and Illustrators @ CPS Libraries
Author and illustrator visits promote reading, encourage writing, and benefit students in many ways. Students are inspired by authors or illustrators’ personal stories of how they have overcome obstacles, taken risks, and embraced the creative process on their road to success. The school libraries at Cambridge Public Schools have been fortunate to host some outstanding author and illustrator visits over the past few months. CRLS

Books on the Go! for CRLS Students

CRLS students came to the library during their lunch to participate in the “Books on the Go” session offered on Digital Learning Day, Friday, March 13th. During this session, they learned how to access audiobooks and ebooks on their mobile device or a school computer using the Follett Shelf BryteWave (K-12 edition) app. After signing into the app and browsing the titles offered, students were able to check out some of their favorite books to read or listen to on the go.

Media Arts Studio Launches CPS Student Media Portal!
The Media Arts Studio (MAS) offers media education courses from introductory through advanced levels, after school clubs, and real world opportunities in the field of media arts and production technology. Completed work is shown on our two Cambridge cable channels, and streamed on our website. This spring we have launched the CPS MediaCAST student portal.
