Family Survey

Got feedback?
We can't wait to hear from you! CPS is conducting our first annual Family Survey, and we hope to hear from you by June 14th!

If you haven't already received an email or text message, or it's gotten lost in your inbox, check out our Family Survey page and click on your family's school(s). You can also find questions & answers about the survey, view our outreach plan, and even make comments on ways to improve our outreach strategy.

For those who don't have a good way to take it from home, watch for survey-taking stations at events at school. We value your feedback and hope to learn and improve based on what we hear from you.

The survey is part of our continuous improvement efforts, a key component of our CPS District Plan

Chromebooks

CRLS Connects Summer 2018 Chromebook Distribution
Information for Rising 9th Grade Families

Rising 9th grade students and families may come to the CRLS School Committee Room August 27-29 to pick up their school-issued Chromebook. During your 20-minute appointment, you and your student will review and sign the CPS Device agreement and Chromebook materials. Additionally, your student will receive a Chromebook, case, and charger. Information about online scheduling for your appointment will be shared at a later date.

The Chromebooks are on loan to students and remain the property of CPS. Students will have access to the Chromebook 24/7 during their enrollment at CRLS.

District Middle School Social-Emotional Learning Survey
The district plans to survey students every year as part of our District Plan, which outlines our commitment to rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning, with personalized supports that build their future success. Student’s participation will help us learn about general areas where we can continually grow to improve our practices. Please see the attached letter from the superintendent explaining the survey. There are copies of the letter in EnglishSpanishFrenchHaitian CreoleAmharic, and Bengali. If you would like support in a language not mentioned, please reach out to the school at 617.349.4060. NOTE: the letter asks you to let the school know by Friday, June 8 if you do not want your student to participate in the survey.

CRLS Musical Informational Meeting for Current 8th Graders
There will be a meeting for students on Tuesday, June 12th at 3:30PM in the CRLS Media Cafe to discuss next Fall's musical. The show selection will be revealed at that meeting and auditions will be in September.

Cambridge Children's Chorus
Cambridge Children's Chorus, a division of Boston City Singers, is accepting singers in grades 6-9 for the 2018-2019 school year. Cantare is conducted by the talented and dynamic Josh DeWitte who also teaches middle school music at the Rindge Avenue Upper Campus in Cambridge. The group has performed with the New England Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Musica Viva, North Shore Philharmonic, and for Memorial Day events on the Boston Common. They have traveled to Sing A Mile High International Choral Festival in Denver, Colorado and are planning a goodwill tour to Puerto Rico during the spring of 2019.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30PM during the school year at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2254 Mass Ave., North Cambridge. Don't miss the chance to be part of this exciting group! To audition and for additional information, please contact Wendy Silverberg, 617.869.8848.

Website User Survey

CPS Website User Family Survey
CPS is starting a rebranding project this summer and needs your help! The CPS district and school websites will be redesigned and we need your feedback.

We want to make sure the websites meet your expectations and more. By filling out the following short survey, we will be able to understand the experience families have when visiting CPS websites and how it can be improved. We also will examine communication efforts collectively at CPS. Thank you in advance for your participation. Take the Survey >>

Clock

Not enough hours in the day?
As part of our ongoing efforts to learn and improve as a school district, Cambridge Public Schools has identified a frequently-cited obstacle: time.

Please join with us in discussing the recommendations of a joint report from the Cambridge Education Association and CPS Administration, which proposes extending the length of the school day.

Beginning with these school-based conversations, and continuing with a broad community process in Fall 2018, the Superintendent will develop recommendations for any potential changes by Winter 2018-19.

Learn more about this process on the CPS website. Upcoming discussions are listed below, many of which have been scheduled for a regular meeting of School Councils. There will be more opportunities to contribute your thoughts and ideas over the coming months. Or, feel free to email us.
