Website User Survey

CPS Website User Family Survey
CPS is starting a rebranding project this summer and needs your help! The CPS district and school websites will be redesigned and we need your feedback.

We want to make sure the websites meet your expectations and more. By filling out the following short survey, we will be able to understand the experience families have when visiting CPS websites and how it can be improved. We also will examine communication efforts collectively at CPS. Thank you in advance for your participation. Take the Survey >>

Voices Wanted: McLean Hospital and the NAACP Boston Branch Seek Volunteers to Share Their Story
The NAACP Boston Branch is launching a collaboration with McLean Hospital to help expand the reach of McLean’s award-winning public awareness campaign, Deconstructing Stigma: A Change in Thought Can Change a Life, within communities of color. Through this effort, we hope to bring a message of resilience, hope, and education to Boston’s communities of color.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Volunteer your story and be part of changing perceptions! If you live with substance use or mental health challenges, McLean Hospital wants to hear from you! We are looking for individuals and families of all ages to be photographed and have their story shared publicly. Let’s work together to show others in our community that they are not struggling alone. #yourmindisyourbusiness. To volunteer, email us.

Free Online Program for Parents of Teens

CPS recently sponsored a talk by anti-porn activist Gail Dines, Protecting Kids from an Overly Sexualized Internet Content.

One alarming statistic came out of this talk: The average age a child is exposed to pornography is now 11 years old.
This is mainly due to their access to the internet via cell phones, either their own or their friends.

Gail Dines has created a free online program for parents of tweens (9-12 year olds) to get comfortable talking to kids about sex so that they learn from us what normal is (normal body shape, normal relationships, normal curiosity, normal reliable resources) and not be easily manipulated by media images and videos which do not represent normal.

To maximize success and outcomes of this training, Gail Dines is working with an assessment team so she can get feedback from parents. You are invited to take part in a lively and open discussion about your experiences with the program.

Here are the details for the discussion:
Date: Tuesday, June 12
Time: 6:30 - 8:30PM
Location: Main library in Cambridge (449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138, Rindge room)

The program is free, you just need to sign up. Learn more >>

Survey

Got feedback?
We can't wait to hear from you! CPS is conducting our first annual Family Survey, and we hope to hear from you by June 14th!

If you haven't already received an email or text message, or it's gotten lost in your inbox, check out our Family Survey page and click on your family's school(s). You can also find questions & answers about the survey, view our outreach plan, and even make comments on ways to improve our outreach strategy.

For those who don't have a good way to take it from home, watch for survey-taking stations at events at school. We value your feedback and hope to learn and improve based on what we hear from you.

The survey is part of our continuous improvement efforts, a key component of our CPS District Plan

Clock

Not enough hours in the day?
As part of our ongoing efforts to learn and improve as a school district, Cambridge Public Schools has identified a frequently-cited obstacle: time.

Please join with us in discussing the recommendations of a joint report from the Cambridge Education Association and CPS Administration, which proposes extending the length of the school day.

A Special School Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 6/13 from 8 - 9AM. Join assistant superintendent Maryann MacDonald and the King School Council members for this additional meeting to get community feed back on an extended day district wide. Open to all in the community.

Learn more about this process on the CPS website.
