6th Graders Grapple with Human

Rights in Bolivia
A mock-trial was in session last Friday for 6th-grade students! A 6th-grade parent, Tyler Giannini, and three Harvard law students came to speak about the Mamani human rights case out of Bolivia. To prepare for the mock trial students grappled with the question: Who has the right to tell you what to do? They read about the government systems that rose in ancient Greece and compared them to modern day governments like Bolivia. Students listened to the arguments from the plaintiffs and defendants and decided on a verdict. The presenters were so impressed with the clarity of the students in their arguments that they told Ms. Saillant they need to plan to come back next year! Ask your 6th grader what the experience made them think about!

Website User Survey

CPS Website User Family Survey
CPS is starting a rebranding project this summer and needs your help! The CPS district and school websites will be redesigned and we need your feedback.

We want to make sure the websites meet your expectations and more. By filling out the following short survey, we will be able to understand the experience families have when visiting CPS websites and how it can be improved. We also will examine communication efforts collectively at CPS. Thank you in advance for your participation. Take the Survey >>

Survey

Got Feedback?
We can't wait to hear from you! CPS is conducting our first annual Family Survey, and we hope to hear from you by June 14th!

If you haven't already received an email or text message, or it's gotten lost in your inbox, check out our Family Survey page and click on your family's school(s). You can also find questions & answers about the survey, view our outreach plan, and even make comments on ways to improve our outreach strategy.

For those who don't have a good way to take it from home, watch for survey-taking stations at events at school. We value your feedback and hope to learn and improve based on what we hear from you.

The survey is part of our continuous improvement efforts, a key component of our CPS District Plan

Rising 7th Grade Math Information Session
As promised, we are planned a forum to address questions that came up at our last School Council meeting around district plans for 7th grade math. Families of rising 7th graders (current 6th graders!) or families with younger siblings are invited to attend an information session on the district’s new 7th grade math program. The session will be at RAUC at 9AM on Thursday, June 14th in Room A201. The goals of the session is for families to have a better understanding of reasons for the change, the research used to support the decisions made, as well as the new curriculum itself. The presentation materials will be shared after the session for those who are unable to attend.

Health and Wellness Tip
Did you know? Students who are more assertive are less likely to get into a conflict with their peers. Students can practice being assertive by using a clear, calm voice and being direct with their message. Reach out to Ms. Boadu or Mr. McNulty if you have any questions about a tip or concerns about your student’s social emotional well-being.

CRLS Musical Informational Meeting for Current 8th Graders
There will be a meeting for students on Tuesday, June 12th at 3:30PM in the CRLS Media Cafe to discuss next Fall's musical. The show selection will be revealed at that meeting and auditions will be in September.
