Dear Families,

It has been a wonderful week at Amigos! I have enjoyed seeing many of you and meeting our new students and families. It is one of my favorite times of year. This week our staff has been dedicated to creating classroom environments where all students feel safe, happy and cared for as well as working on the routines and norms that will help students learn. Many of you will have seen or will be seeing our new Amigos Folders. It is our hope that these folders will help teachers in their communication with you around homework assignments and events. I also encourage you to sync your calendars to our Amigos Google calendar found on our web page for up to the minute information.

I know those of you who have visited the school this week are enjoying the day by day improvements in our playground. Included here are some pictures of our progress for those of you who have yet to come by. We are all excited for this new space to be ready.

This year, our 8th grade will be kicking off its year of fundraising for the trip to NYC next June by running the Cambridge Fall Classic 5K on September 16th. Members of the Amigos community will be running and walking this easy 3.2 mile course and would love your support. Here's how you can help:

If you would like to run with us...
1. Register for the Cambridge Spring Classic – be sure to join the 8th grade Amigos Team when registering. You can register for the run at this link. Parents and kids from any Amigos class are welcome to join! It’s fun!
2. Then, email your friends and family to let them know you and/or your kid(s) are running to raise funds for the 8th grade trip. Include this link to the crowd-funding page in your email.: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/the-amigos-school-8th-grade-fun-run/kristinejelstrup

Estimadas Familias,

¡Ha sido una semana maravillosa en Amigos! He disfrutado de ver a muchos de ustedes y conocer a nuestros nuevos estudiantes y familias. Es uno de mis momentos favoritos del año. Esta semana, nuestra facultad se ha dedicado a crear ambientes de aula donde todos los alumnos se sienten seguros, felices y atentos. Además, han trabajado en crear y fomentar las rutinas y normas que ayudarán a los alumnos a aprender. Muchos de ustedes habrán visto o verán nuestros nuevos cartapacios de Amigos. Es nuestra esperanza que estos cartapacios ayuden con la comunicación sobre tareas y eventos escolares. También les recomiendo que sincronicen sus calendarios con nuestro calendario Google que se encuentra en nuestra página web.

Sé que aquellos de ustedes que han visitado la escuela esta semana están disfrutando de las mejoras diarias en nuestro patio de recreo. Aquí se incluyen unas imágenes de nuestro progreso para aquellos de ustedes que aún no lo han visto. Todos estamos emocionados de que este nuevo espacio esté listo.

Este año, nuestro octavo grado empezará la recaudación de fondos para su viaje a Nueva York el próximo junio participando en el Cambridge Fall Classic 5K el 16 de septiembre.
