Boston Caring
Thanks to our Friends at "Boston Caring" a volunteer organization, the playground out back got a little sprucing up this summer! Did you notice the bench/planters in front of the school? "Boston Caring" put them in as well and several classroom have sign up for the upkeep of the area. Thanks to everyone for helping to beautify our environment.

School Market!
Starting on Tuesday, October 9th we will be teaming up with Food For Free and The Greater Boston Food Bank in hosting a Free Market in the cafeteria at 2:10PM. This amazing event will take place on the second Tuesday of each month. The Market is open to ALL Tobin/VLUS families.

In order for this event to run smoothly, we are looking for a team of volunteers. The commitment would be from 12:30-3:30PM on the first Tuesday of each month. The job would include helping to unload the delivery truck, setting up the Market and cleaning the Market up. I am sure once we get the logistics down (Food For Free will be helping in the beginning) we will become a "fine oiled machine" and it won't take us that long.

If you would like to volunteer your time, please let Mary Frawley ([email protected]) know right away. We really need the help. Thank you!

Ice Cream Social
Last week we had our Annual Back to School Ice Cream Social. All the new and current families had a great time catching up with old friends and making new ones!

Garden News
Volunteer with your child's class to help press apple cider in the school garden!

During CitySprouts' Annual Cider Pressing we introduce children and teachers to the school garden by setting up an apple press and teaching kids how to make cider. We would love parent/guardian volunteers to help set up, do a little crowd control, and clean up afterwards. Come enjoy fresh cider and see how much the kids love being outside in the garden. We will press cider at Tobin on October 10, 11, 15. If interested, contact Andrea Locke at [email protected].
