Reflections from Katie
At Cambridgeport we have two guiding documents that we bring into our work with children throughout the school – the Cambridgeport Core Values and the Cambridgeport Habits of Mind. The Core Values are: Be Kind, Be Responsible, Be Reflective, and Aim High. These core values were brought to life by a group of families, teachers and administrators in 2008, and continue to guide us today. The Habits of Mind are: Think Flexibly, Persevere to Understanding, Analyze and Interpret, Construct and Critique Arguments, and Seek Out Challenge. These Habits of Mind were generated by the Instructional Leadership Team and Cambridgeport school staff during the 2014-2015 school year.

Who Are the People
in Your Neighborhood?
Meet Rob, Our New Custodian!

How long have you been at Cambridgeport?
Since September 5th, the first day of school!

What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
I really have not done that much of interest. But I am about to become a Cambridge firefighter, and a first time dad!

What is your favorite TV show?
Game of Thrones. I like the non stop action, all the moving parts. But actually, The Wire is my all time favorite.

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Cambridge. I graduated Tobin in 2002, and CRLS in 2006.

If you could be an animal, what kind would you be?
A lion. King of the jungle. :)

Shout Out
Shout out to Debbie Bonilla & Mary Grassi who run our district’s Title 1 program. They hosted a fun parent coffee this morning in the hallway. Many parents dropped by to grab a bite on the go, while some stopped to mingle. School Committee member Fred Fantini said the coffee was delicious!

CitySprouts Update:
Welcome Meghan Russell
Hi Cambridgeport families! I am looking forward to seeing you all in the garden. Please stop by to sniff, touch, and explore what is growing. I will be in the garden on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings this year. Before CitySprouts, I was at Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset, MA where I served as a Farm and Garden Educator, leading field trips, leading lessons in school gardens, and serving as a summer camp teacher. I grew up gardening and frequenting farmers markets with my mom and want to share the joy I get from growing a living thing and enjoying fresh produce from the garden. This year you can expect frequent updates from the garden with tips, ways to explore, and recipes.

Find a Coat, Leave a Coat
It is that time of year where we are getting ready to launch our successful Find a Coat, Leave a Coat event. Please, please, please send in your washed outgrown mittens, hats & scarves, warm winter jackets & snow boots – leave them outside Kristen’s office on the first floor. Why spend money on something new when your child may only wear it for a season? Let's swap and exchange items here at school. More info about launch date coming soon.
